Mathias is Co-founder and Group CEO of Sygnum, the world’s first bank for digital assets. Sygnum holds a Swiss banking and securities dealer licence (issued by FINMA), as well as further licenses and registrations in Singapore, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and the UAE. With a broad product and service offering focusing on digital assets, including a convenient fiat and digital assets gateway, Sygnum empowers institutional investors to invest into digital assets with complete trust.

Prior to Sygnum, Mathias was General Manager at RNT Associates, Mr. Ratan N. Tata’s personal investment platform, where he joined as first employee. He led multiple VC and PE investments and participated in Blockchain-related deals globally.

Mathias started his career at Bain & Company where he led advisory projects for Private Equity Funds, Family Offices and Technology companies.

He holds a PhD from the University of St. Gallen and a MsC from the London School of Economics.
